World Hearing Day

Did you know World Hearing Day is on March 3rd???

That is THIS SATURDAY!!!!

Every year, the WHO (World Health Organization) observes World Hearing Day on March 3rd! And every year there is a different theme.

This year's theme is: Hear The Future

The idea is to bring awareness to the idea that it is anticipated that there will be an increase in the number of individuals world wide who have hearing loss.

As a result it is important that we focus on preventative strategies, such as having our hearing checked regularly (even if we don't think we have an issue), and making sure that we are aware of the appropriate steps to take and when to take them, if we do have a hearing loss.

For example, did you know that it takes people 7-10 years before they do something about their hearing loss? That is almost a decade, at minimum, where there are so many sounds we have been missing before we decide to tackle the issue.

Did you know that hearing loss can be caused not only by age, but also by constant stimulation of loud noises, medications, head injuries and viral issues? While it can be sudden, it could also be very gradual.
