Otoscopy
That hand held light we use to look in your ears.. what are we looking for, and what is it called? This hand held instrument is known as an Otoscope. It is used in most medical examinations to exam the "external auditory canal". Basically we want to have a look into the ear canal so we can check for wax buildup, scarring on the ear drum, holes in the ear drum, ear infections, inflammation, redness or foreign bodies (to name some).
